Heterogeneous parenchyma

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forums. I know I have a fatty liver from a CT scan done a few years ago. I don’t know what type of fatty liver I have as the G.I. doctor has never seemed concerned about it. At my encouragement (due to upper right quadrant pain), he ordered an RUQ US this week. The nurse who called me with the results just said the US showed fatty liver, no enlargement and no gall bladder issues. When I looked at the US report through the patient portal, it showed heterogeneous parenchyma with slightly lobulated contour. I tried calling my doctor today, but he wasn’t in and the nurse did not return my call. Can anyone tell me what the US results mean? I have had 3 CT scans with contrast that also showed fatty liver and a small cyst on the liver. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Doctors deal with these diseases all the time and may feel insensitive but they’re not. You have every right to ask questions and get you’re answers from your doctor. Fatty liver can be reversed. Start by eating right and exercising. Read everything you can find about your disease. There’s a lot of forums on this site that people have wrote. Some good and some bad. Good luck! This is not a dearth sentence..

Thank you. I plan to speak with my doctor on Monday. I think more tests are warranted, but I am scared. I am very concerned about the pain, but my doctor didn’t seem to be. My lab results were normal, but I know from posts on this forum that isn’t always a good indicator on how far the disease has advanced.

My scan showed liver at 2 also. It really does get better. They say liver has no pain nerves. But we all know better. Trust what your body is telling you and make your doctor listen. I’m pulling for you. Eat lots of fresh dark green vegetables and fruits, low protein, no salt, no alcohol. I was sent to Florida Cancer Center, who also specializes in blood disorders. You may ask for that. My white cells are low which makes me bleed easier. With a few other problems, which I can handle as long as my liver is healing. And it does regenerate. I’ve been told that by three doctors. Good luck!!

Hi

My consultant told me the liver doesn't have any nerves but the capsule around it does, so the larger the liver gets the more the capsule is stretched hence more pain. Hoping you are sorted out very soon. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

That’s good to know. Different doctors say differently things. Never know what to believe.
