Well, it is still one of the unknowns. It is a critical part of the energy processing of the mitochondria so it must be there for a healthy body. It is manufactured by the body so there is the question whether supplements are good. The trials mostly report not much effect from taking it though there are some reports about improved glucose management and statin interactions. It is not recommended so you should discuss it with your docs. It does occur in lots of the foods we eat. In studies of CoQ10 supplements on the market some did not contain the quantity identified on the product label. Amounts varied from "no detectable CoQ10", to 75% of stated dose, and up to a 75% excess so you don't really know what you are getting but many people take it largely on faith.

I take them as part of my Atrial Fibrillation Heart supplements , it does depend more on what other supplements and medications your on if they will be of help.

I take Swisse CoQ10 300mg x 3 times a day with my magnesium taurate.

I boosted my intake after stopping atorvastatin because it interfered with insulin production in the pancreas ( Diabetes 2 ) and reacts negatively with Jardiance .
