Did you have total cirrhosis of the liver?i was told that your liver would not get better.

Hi Allison

That was the conventional wisdom, but with the curing of Hep C we found that up to 18% of patients regressed their cirrhosis by at least one stage. Some did better than that. That proved that if you eliminate the cause of the inflammation the liver will attempt to improve and we see people who change their lifestyle doing better. I'll attach a slide from my biopsy in 2016

I do not have hep c b or a so I guess that does not apply to me . Will diet help the liver .

Sorry I wasn't clear. It doesn't matter how you got cirrhosis if you can remove or stop whatever is causing the damage your liver will try to heal. No guarantees that it will be able to but it will try. Hep C just proved that the old story that it couldn't improve was wrong. It isn't easy but not hopeless if other organs haven't been damaged too much.

There is a lot to learn for sure and that is why we are here. Millions have this problem but most don't really learn what they need to and there are so many people selling things and making claims that it is very difficult to understand how things might actually work.

Hi Allison, did you have a Fibroscan? I have NAFLD/NASH but not Fibrosis/Cirrhosis. My last Fibroscan was a few months ago and the doctor said ge’d never seen a liver like it before but he was talking about steatosis. I take lots of long term necessary medications which add to my liver problems. I was just wondering if you have correctly understood your diagnosis?
