Referred to gastro for a colonoscopy for possible Diverticulitis

I have a provisional diagnosis of Adenomyosis due to a bulky uterus (following a laparoscopy). I was misdiagnosed with fibroids.I have regular rectal bleeding and urinary incontinence. My pain is all over the pelvis but predominately in the left when I flare. My gp is now saying she thinks I have diverticulitis, alongside the gynae issues and has referred me to gastro for a colonoscopy. Has anyone else had this? I just feel it's a waste of time and another intrusive procedure when I think it's all connected to the gynae issue. I see gynae in 4 weeks time.

I just don't trust anyone right now after 2 years of multiple opinions 🥹

Hi there I've had similar issues since my hysterectomy in 2005 and my symptoms got really bad 4 years ago. I was made to have 2 colonoscopies and a gastroscopy and an endoscopy as I was being told it was gastro problems etc etc, I felt these tests were a waste of time as I knew in my gut it was gynae. I was right all the tests came back clear fro diverticulitis, and other issues I still have bowel and bladder issues and was recently diagnosed with suspected endometriosis and also I had a urethral stricture and overactive bladder syndrome. Don't give up fighting to get answers on your pelvic issues but having the colonoscopy will help if it comes back OK and rule out what they think it could be so you can push on and get answers. I've had to move to a different hospital and now starting from scratch to get a proper diagnosis as my last gynae was useless.

Thank you. It's bad that you've had so many unnecessary tests :( I hope your new hospital manage to help you and give you some answers.I won't give up 🙏 X

I had a colonoscopy as part of my gynae checks because of my bowel symptoms. I'd say it's worth doing either way, to identify if they are connected or if you have any separate issues going on. I'm really glad I did, because they removed a pre-cancerous polyp during the procedure as well! Good luck with everything.

Thank you. Hopefully it will be something else to tick off. It's such a relief that they found that on your colonoscopy. I know it's at least a year wait to be seen though! X
