have any of you ladies had to have one and what should I expect? The nurse at my pre op said I need one due to endo causing a kink in my bowel so may need bowel surgery 😳😬

I've had one and they are absolutely nothing to worry about in my experience. Is this at the hospital being done by a nurse, or is it self-administered? I had one at the hospital and it was done by a very kind nurse. You strip off from waste down, put on some very sexy pants with a hole in the back, roll on your side and the nurse inserts essentially a nozzle up your rectum for about 10 seconds whilst she injects some fluid. This is honestly the most uncomfortable part but it's over quickly and I didn't find it painful. Then you lay there on your own and wait. I think I only had one bowel movement, maybe two, and they were solid and normal - the nurse told me it was likely because I'd been that morning. Maybe a bit more bowel cramping than normal, it wasn't painful but may depend how your bowel is normally I guess. I think they give you half hour, maybe an hour, to poo, I can't remember. I took some music and a book with me to pass the time.

I would honestly take the enema over a bowel cleanse any day! Good luck! x

Thank you so much for sharing! Doesn’t sound too horrific then. Yeah it’s in the hospital as part of my prep for surgery. I have severe endometriosis and it’s caused a kink in my bowel so it needs prepping as I may need the bowel operated on x
