Tips for low mood

I’ve been having Prostap injections since May and they’ve been amazing for my endo symptoms however about 4-5 days after each injection I suffer really badly with low mood. I feel what I imagine depression feels like and after each injection my mood is getting worse. My friends and family aren’t particularly supportive and because these episodes of low mood only last just over a week I don’t want to bother my GP. I’ve only recently been diagnosed with ‘presumed endometriosis’ as I haven’t had a laparoscopy and wasn’t sure if this low mood was normal and whether there was anything I could do to improve it as it is getting worse no matter what I’ve tried. I also don’t want to stop the Prostap injections because they’ve massively improved my symptoms and have given me the chance to live my life again for the 2.5/3 weeks of the month that I don’t feel low. Any tips??

hi there. I’m sorry you’re feeling low :( I have some cyclic symptoms on the Prostap, like the low mood and some period-like pain at certain times of the month.

It might sound crazy and high effort but being consistent with exercise has helped me a lot! I’m much happier than a year ago and the low lows don’t affect me as much, specially if I carry on with my routine during these times.

I hope this helps. Sending you lots of love xx

Depression hit me 2 moths after last injection. GP prescribed antidepressants which I couldn’t take because other health conditions.

I went NHS counselling but waiting list being so long ,I seen specialist after 6 months 🤦🏻‍♀️and she said “nothing wrong with you” 😁

So be prepared for this . It is good that is not you but just the side effect of treatment 💛

Hi Purpledinosaur7

I have been on Prostab now for 6 months ans also experience low mood, I was advised to half my HRT patch and this has helped somewhat from what felt like a deep depressive feeling, but the low moods still come and go.

I exercise, work and have children so for me I have to get up and go, force myself to keep my routine. It is hard but does help.

I also have noticed weight gain around my tummy and facial hair, which makes me feel low in it self.

I do hope you feel better soon, seeing the positives helps me balance the negatives 😊 knowing there are other Women out there that understands me helps me feel less lonely too.
