long story shortish! Dec 21 I was very I’ll had sepsis and they found I had bilateral ovarian absess’ ended up having laparotomy. To have them drained. They removed over 400 mls from my abdomen from the absess. I have always suffered with my periods but since my mum was same thought it was normal and that I was just heavy and painful and the rest.
following surgery I was found to have another or the same cyst and ended up on Decaptyl and after discussion they presumed endometriosis. After 6 month I’ve had to come off the injection in December 22 and restarted my periods with an appointment in June to discuss pain and symptoms. As my body had been through so much trauma they are avoiding another op if possible. During the injections the cysts( there are now 2) have shrunk. Consultant says if I’m still having what he call inflammatory pain and bleeding he will operate. What to do I’m not sure remove cysts or hysterectomy this hasn’t been discussed.
the problem is now my periods have restarted along with sever hip pain abdominal pain during them I am also having spotting every few days and nerve pain in my legs which I had before. Is this part of it all should I be worried? I’m going on holiday in 6 weeks so didn’t want to start anything if I didn’t need to but after what happened I’m constantly worried anyway I don’t want to be where I was 18 month ago even though the consultant says it would be very very very rare to get the abscesses again.
also means I’m going to be due on for my holiday and I’ve never had tablets to delay my period before but I’m so irregular and heavy I don’t want to spoil my holiday. Will they offer them me and who do I see my gp or consultant. My head is all over at the moment. Any advice appreciated x

have they actually confirmed endo? I’d say you need to be seen by a Gynae with special interest in endo to find out exactly where endo is and what’s going on for you. A hysterectomy will only help adenomyosis which is when endo has affected the muscle of the uterus. Without endo being removed or the cysts excised at least, a hyster won’t do you any good I’m afraid
As the holiday is near I’d ask your gp for tablets to delay your period. They may only give you combined pill and that should be ok to take back to back. But we’re all different and some pills work for some and not others.
While cysts are common the abscesses are v uncommon so I think you were really unlucky and would be unlikely to end up there again. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.
As one of the abscesses had burst and there were many little ones over both ovaries they basically scraped and washed me out my bowel and other organs were all stuck together so they said the infection was so bad it covered everything else so they couldn’t confirm endo that way but from the current cysts being endometria’s and my symptoms and past history they are treating as endo as most of the tissue would have been removed and scraped in surgery anyway but my first ultrasound after my op showers some who tissue still present plus my ca 125 is still raised or was at last blood test
If the cysts are still there or grown again then they will remove I just don’t know if they will be doing anything else.
The consultant I see now is the top one in my area for endo among other things and is the MIS expert too so? …
Following having the injection and coming off it I see such a difference in ways I had just learnt to live with and thought was normal! I just want it over and done and sorted now so my kind isn’t in constant worry x
