Gnrh injection reactions

Hi just after some advice and to see if anyone else has had this problem before.

Had my second 3 monthly dose of prostap yesterday. The doctor who administered the injection wasn't my usual, I usually see the nurse.

To start with she could not get the powder to melt in the syringe, then she couldn't get the safety cap off, then she inserted the syringe in my right side of my stomach and tried to inject the medication but had not released all the air before hand so had to re take the syringe back out.

In the end she released all the air and then jabbed me again, it was done rather quickly even thought my first was administered very slowly.

Well anyway ... now I have a very irritated area on my stomach, its sore and quite hard.

I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this and if there is anything I can do to help the area.

Thanks

I had my 3 month prostap injection last week. In my arm not my stomach. I have an area of swelling and my arm still feels a bit stiff, but this is usual for me after any jab.

Looking at your abdomen and hearing your experience, I would go and see the Dr straight away (not the one who gave you the jab).

I hope you're ok xx

That is a truly appalling mess they've made and should never have happened. It's sheer incompetence. Something similar happened to me once, they got the needle stuck in muscle and couldn't get it out. All I can say is maybe cold compress may help to reduce the inflammation.

I would definitely complain officially to your surgery and show the photo. We have enough to put up with.

Try to find out via a receptionist who is most popular for giving these injections and book with them next time. I stick to the same person and I also specify where I want it, which side. My GP prescribes Emla cream and dressings to apply beforehand which reduces the pain as these are big injections. xx

Hi Dana, I’d definitely contact the GP and even 111 if you’re concerned. Just to put it out there, Decapeptyl injections (especially 3 month) should be administered in the hip/buttock area. My GP once administered it in my stomach and my gynaecologist was like WHY?! The bump you’re feeling is probably a mix of bruising from her poor injection skills but also because the powder mixture is to contain the dosage and slowly release it over 3 months (hence the lump) and my gynae said because of that it’s better and safer to inject in the hip/buttock area - and of course they have to avoid muscle. It sounds like your nurse didn’t really know what she was doing - this isn’t an insult but they actually have to be trained to give these kind of injections - I’ve been to a couple of appointments where the nurse admitted she couldn’t administer, even once for a vitamin B injection, and I had to reschedule to see my GP. I hope all is okay and you get care soon xx

Thanks for replying everyone. It seems to of gone down a bit today, I've actually drawn round the mark to see if it grows/gets worse. It's gone over the mark a tad but the colouring is better. It did worry me a little as it seemed to get worse every hour and stung as soon as I left the doctors surgery.

I'm going to ring tomorrow and explain what has happened and put a complaint in. I know she doesn't usually give me the gnr but she said she was qualified
