Problems with ankles and feet

Hey guys,

Have posted on here before a few times so I'm not a super newbie. So I have hypermobile EDS/ hypermobility syndrome/ benign joint hypermobility syndrome depends on which doctor you ask on which day to be honest but all agree on issues with connective tissues.

Not last week but the week before I was on holiday in Ireland and I was at the giant's causeway. I was climbing on the rocks, I had already had an episode of wobbly ankles and I got my foot stuck in a crevasse and rolled my foot and almost face planted into the sea. I was caught by two tourists thank goodness so I did not go for an impromptu swim. I heard a click from my foot but didn't think much of it because things often crack themselves. My foot wasn't so bad after that just a bit sore and I tried to rest it and took painkillers and patched it up.

I went to a&e two days later as my foot was really painful and I needed the all clear to fly home and I hadn't broken anything just soft tissue injuries probably sublaxed something in my foot when I fell and they bandaged it up and I carried on my way.

I rested it (tried to) and when I was back at work as I work in an office it was a lot easier.

The trouble started recently, there is a nasty pain in the back of my ankle, the one I rolled when I fell. At first, I just thought the bandages or my shoes were too tight on my that foot as that is the bigger foot and I loosened them but that didn't help. I used to be able to wear shoes all day but by early afternoon I can't bear it on that foot anymore.

It almost feels bruised, it's burning and swollen and annoying. I have been propping it up I can't take ibuprofen because of allergies but have trying to reduce inflammation.

It gets a little worse every day. Has anyone had that? If so what was it and what did you do about it?

Podiatrists are the experts in feet right up to the knees, so have a look and see if you can self refer to one. If not see your GP and ask for a podiatry referral, unless your GP has podiatric experience and can diagnose this.

It sounds like something is up with the achilles tendon so should be looked at by someone who knows about these things.

Good luck, let us know what they find!

Hi, I agree with Cyberbarn and in the meantime have you tried cool applications to help with inflammation.I also can't recommend supplements of curcumin with black pepper and ginger in food enough to help with inflammation.
