Hi Kaz40uk, so sorry to hear that you are having these issues. The headaches sound horrible.

Were you having the headaches before you started taking the Sitagliptin or since? I have heard people talk about bad headaches as a side effect of Sitagliptin.

The headaches, sweating and blurred vision also sound like a bit like hypo syptoms. Do you test your blood-glucose levels at random times and when you feel unwell?

As you say, you have one kidney plus other ailments, so it's difficult to guess here what might be the cause of the headaches. Have you discussed this with your GP or nurse? I'm sure they have prescribed this medication with the bigger picture in mind.

If I was you I would make an appointment to see them to discuss the headaches and sweating etc, but also the fat that you can't get your blood-glucose levels below 10mmols. You don't want you blood-glucose to be at those levels for a prolonged time because of the risks of long-term complications and ketones. You may need a diabetes medication review, different tablets, increased dose of Sitagliptin or insulin to help you manage your levels better.

Have you had Type 2 long? It sounds like you got diagnosed early if you are managing it with diet and exercise and the hep of the Sitagliptin. It is a progressive condition though and people often need a medication review.

Hope that helps. Would love to know how you get on.

Good luck

Thank you for your suggestions I have had a blood and urine review and been told I'll be sent to the Dietbetic clinic seems to be taking a while tho. I test when I wake before breakfast never below ten and two hrs after evening meal lucky to get it below 15 I'm trying to limit my carb intake so I don't aggravate it further thank you once again grateful for all advice
