it was the old complicated classification -but by WHO and worldorganisations we have simplified to type 1 and type 2-there used to be type 1 a,b etc

As far as I know diabetes has only two types. First type called"Tyoe 1" dia betes and the second one is called type 2 diabetes. In type 1 diabetes you are deprieved of insulin totally from pancreas that is managed by externally injecting insulin for daily maintenance.Mostly this type of diabetes is present at birth it self or by total failure of pancres to produce and supply insulin that is needed for infusing sugar from blood to the tissues and gets stagnated in blood, resulting high elevations of sugar beyond normal levels .You don't have controlled relase at all. Unless this is corrected with infusion of insulin, the person is sure to die because of starvation of sugar , the fuel for mainatining your survival. If not you are sure to die of high sugar and failure of heart, blood vessels, brain, Kidney. Excessive infusion externally alco dangerous as the blood is starved of sugar and hypo sugar will be more fatal. In type 2 diabetes, you have your pacres producing and discharging sugar either in sufficiently or in random manner and you don't need normally insulin , but you have to manage withsugar levels through medicines.
