Very Interesting read!!

Elderly people are routinely being given diabetes drugs they don't need because of a 'pay for performance' scheme which rewards GPs for prescribing pills

This 'overtreatment' is putting already-frail people at risk of falls, experts say

They said the problem dates back 15 years to a scheme introduced by Labour

Prescriptions for diabetes drugs have soared by 70 per cent in a decade .

Not only diabetes for many other ailments prescribed drugs are given where simple modification in life style and diet is sufficient . The biggest disease with which world is suffering to day is greed for money which makes medical fraternity to forget all scruples and humanity.

I believe that they get £250 a year for T2 diabetic patients who have an annual review. I stopped Metformin due to side effects many years ago and try to eat a sensible diet. This year I ignored the letter asking me to make an appointment for the annual review as it was only four months after the previous one. I had two follow up letters and then a phone call.

I told them all the appointments got me was no supper, an early shower and a late breakfast and that I was quite happy checking my blood sugar on an occasional basis myself and that the HbA1c that does not need a 15 hour fast is adequate. I got the form from them and had it done at the hospital when I had another appointment. They have not since contacted me so I assume that the result was no worse than in other years. Since first having the tests in 2004 the goal posts have at least twice been moved. Initially I had been told that that I was glucose intolerant but since then that phrase has been ditched and you are regarded as T2.

What ever it is, we have to question the medication,if people who are not knowledgeable then there is always a chemist in UK can help.

Last year May 2018 my hba1c was 6.2 and September it was 6.4 after eating lots of mangoes.

"The health benefits of mangoes have always been debatable because of their excessive sugar and calorie content which generally overpower the nutritional value of the fruit. Therefore, diabetics are mostly advised to eat mangoes in moderation"
