Calcium tablets and vit e can help nocturnal muscle spams. Also all those having them should check for diabetes. Diabetics and prediabetics are more prone to have nocturnal muscle spasm frequently and of severe intensity lasting longer. The calf muscles become wooden hard and very painful. Massaging the affected muscle and hot fomentation help during such spasms.
