Lipid profile

Hi All

Recently done the lipid profile checkup

Cholesterol -221

Triglyceride -75

HDL - 59

LDl -191

Vldl -15

Wondering whether LDL value is correct ??? They have done it using measurement method not by calculation.

LDL cholesterol = Total cholesterol -- HDL cholesterol -- (0.2 x Triglycerides)

(0.2 x Triglycerides) = (1/5) of triglycerides = VLDL.

191 mg/dL = 221 -- 59 -- 15 = 147 mg/dL.

According to the formula, the actual LDL is equal to 147 mg/dL and not 191 mg/dL as given in the lab report.

I am also wondering about this . Expensive test done with direct measurement using reagents and unable to predict whether it is correct
