I am diabetic for 35 years. my Bliod sugar satisfactorily maintained. Except for few fluctuations. Medication is Glimepride 1 mg in the morning. If the reading is unfavorable Metformin 500 mg added before bed. Otherwise, FBs below 115 And PP 140-180.
Now the latest test shows protein +30 in urine. I am also taking 50 mg Losartan daily for my Blood Pressure. Blood Pressure is under control. It is consistently at 120/70 and 130/80. I do not want to increase anymore Losartan. Is there way to get this issue corrected. By the way my ultrasound scan says two kidneys are in order. But fatty liver is grade 1.
Can anyone help me .

Each kidney is made of hundreds of thousands of small units called nephrons. These structures filter your blood, help remove waste from the body, and control fluid balance.
In people with diabetes, the nephrons slowly thicken and become scarred over time. The nephrons begin to leak and protein (albumin) passes into the urine. This damage can happen years before any symptoms begin.
Glimepiride is used along with diet and exercise, and sometimes with other medications, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Glimepiride lowers blood sugar by causing the pancreas to produce insulin (a natural substance that is needed to break down sugar in the body) and helping the body use insulin efficiently. This medication will only help lower blood sugar in people whose bodies produce insulin naturally.
Metformin is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Metformin is in a class of drugs called biguanides. Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood.
Losartan is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Losartan is also used to decrease the risk of stroke in people who have high blood pressure and a heart condition called left ventricular hypertrophy (enlargement of the walls of the left side of the heart). Losartan may not decrease the risk of stroke in African Americans who have these conditions. This medication is also used to treat kidney disease in people who have type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and therefore cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood) and high blood pressure. Losartan is in a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of certain natural substances that tighten the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
Once fatty liver is diagnosed, the important things to do include weight control, control of diabetes if present and control of lipids.
Fasting blood sugar should be less than 100 mg/dL.
Postprandial blood sugar (2 hours after taking food) should be less than 140 mg/dL.
