Aloe can interfere with the absorption of Metformin for people who use both. Therefore, aloe and Metformin should be sufficiently spread apart to avoid/prevent such interference. A minimum of two hours, or better yet four hours, should work for most people. As to the effect on diabetes, aside from its general support of the immune system, it is not quite yet proven even though there are some preliminary reports that it helps regulate blood sugar. I hope the above helps.

Mixed reports in scientifically conducted studies. Equal number of successful and zero effectiveness outcomes. In an experiment covering 600 subjects, 5% developed allergy.

People with diabetes who use glucose-lowering medication should be cautious if also taking aloe by mouth because preliminary studies suggest aloe may lower blood glucose levels.
