My journey into Diabetes. It relates to my personal experiences of events leading ultimately to diagnosis of diabetes.

It was early 80's when it all started.I started getting BOIL in the upper lip very close to nostril. It won't go away without taking antibiotics. It went on and on for many many months.I did not take it very seriously. Then I notice that my libido was getting diminished and over a period of many months there was complete loss of it.Otherwise there was nothing abnormal.Meanwhlie one more thing caught my attention. When I woke up in morning and went to toilet for urination it was very painful, otherwise rest of the times it was perfectly normal. One thing more big black ants collected around the urine.I was still ignoring things.Perhaps diabetes was staring into my eyes but I with both eyes open failed to see it.Why? Because it was hammered into mind the golden triad of diabetes,Polyurea,Polydepsia and polyphegia. And I did not have any. These symptoms appeared to unrelated to diabetes,so I failed to see the writing on the wall. Then a person came and said to me, sir, your face has lost charm, glaze and shine. Here I may point out that I was a fair complexioned ,slim without any Thrace of addional fat any where with ideal weight.I always looked much much younger than my years. At that time my age was around 40 yrs and there was no diabetes in my immediate family. That mans remark forced me to think.I went to a pathologist friend of mine and asked him to do random blood sugar test.Still not believing that I will a diabetic. But results surprised me.BS was 235. Then a proper investigation was done and diabetes was confirmed. So my journey to diabetes ended or was it the beginning.

In my previous posts I had requested members to come up with their experiences and I had meant events ,symptoms they felt before being diagnosed as diabetic. All the text books of medicine and all the web sites tell you about FULL BLOWN disease, not the unusual events felt and experienced by individual sufferer before being branded diabetic. So if it can be shared it will benefit many in prediabetic stage .Diagnosis at a very early stage may save the person from many complications and it is possible to arrest the disease in its nescent stage. So let the 1000 flowers bloom.

Thank you.

Note---I was also getting mild cramps in calf muscles of both lege.
