For some time now, Fortis and other hospitals have been advertising about the Diabetic Surgery and its curing results. Has someone gone though this surgery or know any thing about this surgery?

Those who are young below 45 yrs with BMI high >35 may undergo Bariatric Surgery provide their C- Peptide level is near normal. But the cost till now is very high- 2.5-3 lacs.

Type1 diabetics are not "Insulin Resistant "------so in your case bariatric surgery wont help to gain control on diabetes

Don't give up at all. Many Type I boys and girls are really doing well in their life. take the case of the great Pak pacer Wasim Akram, Hollywood diva Hall Berry's case . They are Type I. Just keep tight control on your Blood Glucose level and be under a good diabetologist's treatment. Future is promising- a new group of oral medications are getting launched called SGLT2 inhibitors [Gliflozins]. This class of drugs helps more elimination of Glucose through urine and will be useful in Type 1 too.Another 5-10 yrs from now Stem Cell therapy and Gene therapy will be accessible to you. So be happy and keep your spirits high.

Please buy one vial at a time and keep it in cool place away from sunlight. That will do. During summer months keep the insulin vial wrapped in wet cloth.
