Hello everyone, understanding my difficulties that I write in the diary, I came across the term "stacking effects" on the forum, which is mentioned in the dosage and understanding of the effect of levodopa. What is 'effect stacking' and how to recognize it. Thank you.
Effect stacking: Hello everyone... - Cure Parkinson's
Effect stacking
Stacking occurs when a long-acting formulation of levodopa is taken sufficiently frequently that the tail ends of the previous doses are still in effect, resulting in increasing plasma levels over the course of the day. As the plasma level builds up a person is prone to suffer from overdose symptoms.
Thank you for your reply. What are the symptoms of an overdose? How to recognize them? It happens to me that if I drink a dose of LC at 7, 11, 15, the last dose at 15 hours has no effect. And if I drink at 7, 11, 6 p.m., that last dose works. That's not a stocking?
Thanks, this link healthunlocked.com/cure-par... says it all. Can you just comment on my case when the last dose doesn't work. Thank you.
The only thing I can think of as to why a dose might not work at all is if you're taking a multivitamin or B complex at that time. Food can also affect absorption.
The link you posted covers dystonia. Levodopa over medication can also cause dyskinesia - involuntary motion that is different from tremor
