Restless leg syndrome

To help relax my husband's leg muscles at night I heat a towel in the microwave for 25 seconds on high and place it on the back of his lower leg muscles for several minutes. (He lies face down on bed.)

Are you sure it is Restless leg sydrome?. My husband had Parkinsons and REM sleep disorder is one of the first signs of Parkinson's. My husband died at the age of 80 but he already had REM sleep disorder at the ag of 20. ( I discovered it on our honeymoon)They don't become paralyzed in their dreams; instead they act out their dreams. Once I woke him up to ask what he was doing as his legs were kicking like crazy and he said he was running in his dream.

if I get leg cramps I use a product called Calm. It’s a powder of calcium and magnesium and you mix with hot water and drink it. It works for me. I have also done the hot towel

I have nights when my legs bother me and I just can’t get them to relax and stop hurting and I’ve tried different things, magnesium powder works sometimes and the jacuzzi can help too but the one thing that always works for me the best is a half a Vicodin. I’ve been prescribed this for other pain I’ve had for years but it really works wonders on my legs. I’ve taken Tylenol with little positive results but it’s the medicine in Vicodin with the Tylenol that is the magic that does the trick. Talk to your doctor and see what they say.

I don't have restless leg syndrome, my wife does. The "Second Opinion Newsletter" states that Restless Leg Syndrome is caused by a Folic Acid Deficiency. Dr. Shallenberger has treated patients and cured them of this disorder. Unfortunately, my wife will not try this remedy unless her consultant tells her to do so.

Thanks for the information. You love your wife and want to help ... I totally understand this can be frustrating for you. I wonder if a Naturopath might be helpful.

Unfortunately sometimes people will only believe in medical treatment!!!

It’s damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I find I don’t have a problem if I get enough sleep, but if I don’t, it keeps me from going to sleep.

I've found a similar solution with a rice filled microwavable heating pad. Not a solution in the heat of summer. I've referred to my "Cramps" as like having worms in my calves. Several PWPs on Zoom encouraged me to try sublingual tablets called Leg Cramps from Hyland, available on Amazon. On order, Fingers crossed.
