Sharing a post with a list of companies working on disease modification therapies for PD

I've been very discreet here, having had on the top of YOPD, RLS. Both together is a real pain, and I wouldn't wish it to my worse enemy.

However, I've been better very recently, and as I am jobhunting, I just saw that post while on Linkedin. There is a list of companies involved in disease modification for PD. I can't review the list at the moment because of the jobhunting, but I wanted I to share it here with you guys.

The person who posted that is Lindsay Hartland from LinkedIn ;-). Apparently, he is a professional consultant for companies in neurology as far as I can see. I don't know him in any way. This is mainly about the list of companies. I just know Insightec, Charco and Photopharmics.

Otherwise, I personally don't like the patronising tune when referring to a recent picture of MJF. I personally find it heartbreaking, and I am praying the universe that thanks to exercising, mannitol, B1, photobiomodulation etc... are helping. They help me.

If you grew up in the 80's, this picture is pretty much guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Michael J Fox still managing a smile 30 years after being diagnosed with #parkinsonsdisease

And since his diagnosis, this man has done for Parkinson's research what he did for the global popularity of Skateboarding in the 1980's - becoming an advocate for finding a cure by founding the The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in 2000 to increase awareness, and fund research.

There are currenlty no Device or Drug treatments available that are proven to slow, halt, or reverse the progression of Parkinson's disease, nonetheless there are many start-ups committed to changing this over the coming years, and also those that can help manage symptoms:

Check them out:

Aleva Neurotherapeutics SA

Encora Therapeutics

Synchron

Bioinduction

U: The Mind Company

Gondola Medical Technologies

INBRAIN Neuroelectronics

Charco

PhotoPharmics, Inc

Newronika S.p.A.

Ottobock

Cue2Walk International

INSIGHTEC

Walk With Path Limited

Stoparkinson Healthcare Systems Inc

For those living with Parkinson's - never give up hope.

And keep smiling Michael. The industry won't stop until it finds a cure.

Encora Therapeutics: AI-powered Smart Wearable Device for Tremor Reduction

Synchron relies on the Stentrode, which is a device that looks similar to a stent. This device is placed into a blood vessel near the part of the brain that is responsible for movement. It then uses electrodes to send electric currents to the brain when necessary. Depending on the type of injury that doctors are targeting, the Stentrode is implanted in different areas of the body.1,4

Bioinduction Announces the World's First Successful Implantations of 'PICOSTIM', a Novel, Less Invasive, Self-Contained Cranialized 'Brain Pacemaker' for Parkinson's Disease

About U: The Mind Company

We develop portable devices that modulate brain activity through small electrical impulses.

Gondola medical technologies: It is a portable medical device for personal use. It provides a non-invasive and non-pharmacological peripheral neurostimulation treatment called AMPS (Automated Mechanical Peripheral Stimulation), which improves balance, increases stability and gait speed and reduces freezing of gait

INBRAIN has the mission to decode brain signals into medical solutions by developing intelligent neuroelectronic therapies based on graphene technology for application in patients with epilepsy, Parkinson’s and other brain related disorders.

Charco Neurotech: The CUE1 is a non-invasive, wearable, medical device for people with Parkinson’s, to improve movement and quality of life.

PhotoPharmics: Our specialized phototherapy promises to improve overall function for people with PD—without additional medication and on top of current care. In our phase 2 study involving nearly 100 participants, we saw broad improvement across an array of symptoms—both motor and non-motor—which has not been seen before.
