Hi Vinyl,

Interesting question, and I look forward to the feedback.

For myself, I have been using mushrooms per the Paul Stamets protocol:

My hope from fungi - lion's mane is neuroprotective and improves cognition (I should have kept links to the various studies when I was looking at this), and psilocybin is also neuroprotective and promotes neurogenesis. Reports also claim psilocybin is anti-depressive and mood enhancing, both of interest to us PWP.

I've only been doing the stack for 2 months, but I tolerate it well and my mood seems good.

Here is a recent article on lion's mane. I have been taking it for quite a while as well as reishi mushrooms. It is part of those many supplements that are supposed to help you (and probably do) but where it is difficult to identify specific benefits. Still, I am not planning on stopping taking them.

Paul Stamets recommends what he calls the Stament Stack. Its lions mane mushrooms and psilocybin together. Both can produce neurogenisis. They remap and help repair and regrow neural pathways. Psilocybin is also becoming a goto treatment for depression, OCD and PTSD issues. I have permission to raid a friends field to look for cubes but haven't had the time or chance nor timing to do it. I have been curious about their effects and see if they would help or benefit. I do wonder if they would act as a dopamine antagonistic or possible other issues. A rabbit hole worth investing. On the recreational side, the giggles...

The director of the UCSF study, Ellen Bradley, MD, has a theory that neurodegeneration in Parkinson's is caused by a lack of neuroplasticity. Because psychedelics increase synaptic activity, she’s studying psilocybin as a treatment for people with early stages of Parkinson’s: proto.life/2023/12/a-trip-t...

There was also a study in the Netherlands (“A study to investigate the effects of repeated low doses of psilocybin and ketamine on cognitive and emotional dysfunctions in Parkinson’s disease and to understand its mechanism of action”), apparently completed, but I cannot find the results: clinicaltrialsregister.eu/c...
