To avoid nausea I suggest using an unconcentrated whole bean powder.

For the whole bean powder it takes a tablespoon or two to make up a dose.

The powder is neutral - flavorless. It will mix with just about anything - juice, applesauce, oatmeal etc.

The powder made me nausea's just because it was a powder and I could taste it. How do you get it down? I use the capsules from Now brand and take 2 every 3 hours. I try to take with green tea

Are you on any pharmaceuticals? If you are on Sinemet, you may take 1/2 t Sinemet with 2 capsules of MP (depending on the strength of MP). Vanderbilt MDS suggested to my husband that if he wants to take just MP, he should add Carbidopa to his MP. If you take Sinemet, simply add MP to your dose.

I used to take Amandadine but didn't think it was doing much. My doctor wanted me to try levadopa. I want to stay on Mucona for now.

Yes, you may try just Mucuna Pruriens, but you have to try different strengths, it's a trial/error effort. As I wrote, you may add just CARBIDOPA for efficacy.

Good luck!

I have taken pure brown organic mucuna bean powder for 2-3 years. I found that the suggested typical low doses, such as 1/4 tsp. didn't work for me. After looking at published studies using it, and seeing that they used some large doses with success and without side effects, I gradually increased my doses until I saw results. I now take 1 tbsp per dose and mix it with water or almond milk. It doesn't taste bad, but it is a little gritty. To me it tastes how I would expect dried pinto beans ground into a powder to taste. I've been told you can cook with it (by the company selling the brand I take), without losing efficacy. You could add the mucuna to your serving (of soup maybe?) so you're sure to get your full dose. I guess it would be more a case of adding it to hot food than actually cooking it. Either way, it's fine to do. I find it easier to just mix with a few oz of liquid and drink it down.

I take several doses daily and do not experience any side effects, but others here have said they do. For me, it works as well or better than a dose of C/L 25/100. I would do your research, proceed with caution, listen to your body and start small, gradually increasing as needed. Of course you probably should consult with your doctor. Mine does not agree with what I'm doing, and would rather add several more Rx's to my 3 daily C/L pills, which do cause me unpleasant side effects.

The suggested typical low doses, such as 1/4 tsp., are for the general public that does not need more levodopa.

Makes sense.

My doctor said I wasn't letting her treat me when I wouldn't take her prescriptions

n like it's more about the doctor than the patient! I'd find a new doctor. It's challenging to find one open to non-conventional treatments.

I just tried a new doctor but I don't know why she took my appointment. She is not taking new patients. She is only available 1x/ year visit. She is focused on DBS procedures. I guess I will stick to my med focused doctor for now. 🤔

😖You could try someone that does telehealth, or look for a Naturopathic Dr, but that’s most likely out of pocket vs insurance. Best of luck.

I take both Mucuna and Sinemet because if I only take Sinemet I get dyskinesia so I mix and match what I take. I take ONE of the following combinations at 8:00/11:00 and 2:00:

-2 NOW brand Dopa Mucuna + 1/8 tsp Matcha green tea

-2 NOW brand Dopa Mucuna + 1/4 tab Sinemet

-1 tab 25/100 Sinemet

I also take high dose thiamine.
