I stole these links from a JAS9 post from 3 months ago: healthunlocked.com/cure-par... Thanks JAS9! Re-posting to add information.

Aromatic-turmerone induces neural stem cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo 2014 stemcellres.biomedcentral.c... "Both in vitro and in vivo data suggest that ar-turmerone induces NSC proliferation. Ar-turmerone thus constitutes a promising candidate to support regeneration in neurologic disease."

Anti-inflammatory effects of aromatic-turmerone through blocking of NF-κB, JNK, and p38 MAPK signaling pathways in amyloid β-stimulated microglia 2012 sciencedirect.com/science/a... "These results suggest that ar-turmerone impaired the Aβ-induced inflammatory response of microglial cells by inhibiting the NF-κB, JNK, and p38 MAPK signaling pathways. Lastly, ar-turmerone protected hippocampal HT-22 cells from indirect neuronal toxicity induced by activated microglial cells. These novel findings provide new insights into the development of ar-turmerone as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders."

I looked into Turmeric Essential Oil last month but could not find any that was edible, much less able to be injected into my cranium, so I bought some of this: Plant Therapy USDA Certified Organic Turmeric CO2 Essential Oil 10 mL (1/3 oz) 100% Pure, Undiluted, Therapeutic Grade amazon.com/gp/product/B01KW... and I diluted it with about 90% olive oil and rub some under my nose about 4 or 5 times a day.

Does it help? I have not been diagnosed with PD, I have REM Sleep Behavior Disorder. I do have a sore left shoulder and sore left leg and today they feel better, but I do A LOT OF THINGS (just got my Hydrogen Water Generator today!).

Striking resemblance between ar-turmerone and cinnamaldehyde, the active ingredient in cinnamon, which is helpful for Parkinson's. Click on the "+" button below to see.

My report on cinnamon:

but does it convert to benzoate - which is the active metabolite as reported in the Raha et al. (2020) study

Good point. I spent some time looking and was unable to find the metabolites of turmerone.

I tried cinnamon yesterday and it did not make me break out into an itchy rash - yeah! (allergy issues have been improving lately)

But I'm right now having a terrible hypoglycemia attack (hypoglycemia attacks have been increasing overall lately)

😞

Oh well, back to the drawing board ...

Indeed it appears that cinnamon can lower blood sugar. I shall add a warning about this to my report.

Rhyothemis in reply to park_bear

I'm prone to them and these past few months they have been more frequent and any little thing (cold shower, exercise) seems to set them off. Most people would probably benefit from the blood sugar lowering effect, but I think there is at least one other person on the forum who has problems with hypoglycemia attacks, so a warning is probably a good idea.

in reply to Rhyothemis

I do too. Have you tried licorice? Thoughts on venpocetine? Since I have been using it I’ve been a little better.

Actually I'm not sure if what I experienced from cinnamon was actually a hypoglycemia attack. The symptoms I got were tremor and some mild confusion. I was also having these symptoms from aerobic exercise (usually after around 30 min) and since I did not want to give up exercise I went to the doctor and got a glucose monitor (Freestyle Libre) to try to better manage my blood glucose. The results were not what I was expecting - I was not having hypoglycemia attacks when I was having these symptoms. I did however get low readings in the early morning hours just before waking up. Some ppl online have reported the same and have attributed it to pressure on the sensor from lying down on it - but I don't think that was the case for me. It coincided with the worst of my dry eye/dry mouth symptoms - so I think it was due to low interstitial fluid (dehydration can cause false low readings).

Licorice - I tried whole licorice root extract and also DGL licorice recently for GERD and got bad sides from both - ocular migraine.

I'm starting to suspect neuromyelytis optica. My dry eye/mouth gets a lot worse after eating soy, which has aquaporin similar to human aquaporin 4 and can increase autoantibodies to it. I'm also starting to wonder if this is what my father had instead of MSA - but I don't recall him having any eye problems or dry mouth. He had a lot of peripheral neuropathy, which some experts say is not from MSA. My dad also had an unexplained bout of rhabdo late in his illness and had tobacco sensitivity. So I'm still puzzling over his symptoms and mine, and whether or not they are related in any way.

I don't know much about vinpocetine.

in reply to Rhyothemis

Here is some info on Vinpocetine

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/303...

As I’m revisiting it, my confidence in it is reduced. It lowers blood pressure but increases blood flow to the brain.

I don’t understand this. Someone else tried to explain this but I’ve read contradictory info on this. How can reduced pressure increase blood flow to the brain? I would think the less pressure coming from a pump (human heart) the less flow (circulation) there would be. But, Vinpocetine is at least an anti inflammatory.

Your symptoms, tremor & mild confusion especially after exercise lead me to hypothesize dehydration. Regardless of water intake, it could be a lack of absorption.

Do you take in electrolytes? Sodium, chloride, potassium, & magnesium ? I believe that is one of my issues too.

Regarding the really low glucose reading in the morning, if it’s before eating I believe it’s bc you are in a fasted state. This can be excellent if with trial and error you can get in to ketosis.

Btw I have an adverse reaction to soy as well. It is not strong enough to have made it obvious. It has required a lot of trial and error to determine it.

Something that acts to increase endothelial nitric oxide production can both lower BP and increase perfusion to tissues. Blood flow to the brain is regulated by baroreceptors in the carotid sinus and in a healthy person should maintain perfusion in the brain. Might not be true for someone with autonomic dysfunction.

There are lots of ways to increase endothelial nitric oxide production, I have a YT playlist of videos on NO:

I'm pretty sure I'm not dehydrated. I think it is something called Uhthoff's sign. I'm working up the courage to try to take a hot bath and see what happens.

I'd like to get Vibrant Wellness's Lectin Zoomer and Neural Zoomer Plus tests, if I can find a health care provider in my area that uses them. I noticed they also have a panel that includes neurofilament light chain (Neural Health Panel).

Another possibility is small fiber neuropathy. My hands are at times turning red and it's getting worse - the finger tips are starting to turn purple. I'm so tired.

in reply to Rhyothemis

Do you have a reduced ability to differentiate between hot and cold? That’s a sign of it. As is not being able to feel very small sources of pain like a pin. I am a card holding member of the “what the heck is causing this” club.

I’m listening to your videos as I’m driving home from work. Thank you!!

You're welcome.

Sensing is not too bad, I've had worse problems in the past with loss of sensation. I'm getting some pain in my fingers, but it's not that bad either. My urinary tract pain is coming back and I hate that. Being hypersensitive to touch is also a symptom. I'm autistic and autists have lower small fiber nerve density and this is a risk. I would have thought the opposite since I thought the hypersensitivity thing would be due to a higher density. I have tactile sensory processing issues - I can't stand the feeling of some fabrics on my skin (mostly synthetics).

I'm going to order some benfotiamine - that should help.

Consider; C46H64O2 - Vit. K2 (MK-7), C15H20O - Ar-Turmerone, C15H26O – Farnesol, C6H14O6 – Mannitol, Sugar - C12H22O11... I threw sugar in there for fun, they are all hydrocarbons.... All the others are "or" are being studied as possible reversal...

You're welcome, Bolt. I think I'll try this too! It's mostly fantasy, of course; we're unlikely to find the holy grail at a yardsale, but wouldn't it be grand if we did? Consider me a guinea pig #2. As long as you drop the "inject into cranium" idea...

I take Doterra turmeric capsules which includes the oil. They have a dual chamber capsule with oil and extract. They also have the essential oil which they claim can be taken internally.

Thanks. I couldn’t figure out how to get the link pasted. I trust Doterra products. They seem to have a large dedicated following. I also take their serenity softgels at night.

I just finished a bottle of this (60 days). I think it is working and i have high hopes. Seems to deliver all the promises of Turmeric Supplements better than any I have ever tried. It is advertised as most bio-available. According to HTN, "BCM-95 Curucumin as per supplier of the ingredient has about 4 to 4.5% total turmerones so it would be about 26mg per cap as calculation." If you have a problem with large pill order a smaller cap, looks like available in 650, 500, and 300 caps.

Update: I have 9 cap left in my 3rd bottle of BCM-95. So, I have taken for 171 days. I have also taken about 2/3rds (approximately 1900 mg Turmerones) of a bottle of DoTerra Turmeric essential oils.

I’m no longer trying to regain lost weight, so I am no longer taking/using the protein shake everyday (I currently add 6 drops (approximately 140 mg). I do believe, I have had some improvement, but is that improvement due to the Turmerones or the multitude of other things (I have taken and/or I am doing would be a good question).

I need to add a disclaimer. Something to keep in mind, the problem with being your own human guinea pig with Parkinson’s; is in PD the placebo effect is strong, because dopamine is produced when you (think) there’s improvement. I’m practicing a little of; what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, I’m not exposing all because I don’t want to be responsible for someone’s death. I use as my gage how much L-dopa do I need – I’m currently taking 3 a day down from 11.

I am also using DoTerra essential oils; One drop in a cup of coffee is not buffer or me, I mix in a protein shake, 6 drops made my kidneys hurt and I had heart pains – my phone was in my hand ready to call 911 wen the heart pain cleared after less than 5 minutes. I’m current taking 3 drops with an occasional accidental fourth drop a day. In the morning, in the evening I did not sleep the entire night.
