Increased Butyrate production may be one of the ways that Mannitol is able to help PwP. Mannitol and xylitol, both are polyols or sugar alcohols and are noted for increased butyrate production, but having enough of butyrate producing gut bacteria is needed.

healthunlocked.com/cure-par...

Interestingly, increased butyrate production can increase melatonin production which is also good for PwP. Increased melatonin production can improve gut bacteria diversity.

I wonder if that is the same for Trehalose which I recently read about being good for PWP. I will need to revisit this.

If mannitol operates in the same way as xylitol and Trehalose I assume than that taking more than one would be pointless?

So mannitol or equivalent during the day and melatonin at night

I'm surprised there doesn't seem to be much interest . I am going to try it for 2-3 months.

Me as well considering there is at least one poster on a PD forum who says Butryic Acid cured (his word) him. He was using higher doses.

That was from a newsletter. I believe I found the same info. I'll begin at 6 pills and move to 12. Wiil keep you posted.

Hi Kerrington, what r u taking as the Butryic acid?

KERRINGTON profile image
KERRINGTON in reply to Leslim

Neesby, Butyrex Calcium, Magnesium Butyrate, 250 capsules. These are the ones taken by the person on the other forum who was "cured". My 3rd day..began with 3/3, up to 5/5. FOUL stuff. I put the whole capsule into either pudding, apple sauce, or sweet oatmeal. Then I take up 2/3 pills along with what I am eating, then crunch them, take more pudding, crunch till I can swallow. I tried opening them up...big mistake.. I'll do this till Sept 1st.

update....I have temporarily ceased taking it since my blood pressure plummeted. These are the newest supplement.

I have the same product. I've tolerated 6 capsules pretty well and haven't yet went to 12 but will soon. I may have to cut back on some other supplements to accommodate taking 12 but will do it.

So far nothing has happened to me, not even a burp, and I also take mannitol.

Hi. How is it going with the butyrex?I started my husband on it for a few days and had to stop as he complained of bad stomach discomfort. Reverting to Miyarisan clostridium butyricum helped greatly. Now I have 2 bottles of Neesby butyrex looking at me. I got really good results with probiotics PS 128 and the coronet duo I think I will just put butyrex in the fridge and shelf them for the time being.

I'm curious as to what sort of label yours has. Their old label (15-20 years ago) was white with a hot pink border on the top and bottom, but I'm seeing 2 different labels being sold. One has some sort of scene with trees. We just got 2 bottles yesterday from the local health food store and it has the old label. I'm wondering if there are counterfeits being sold (and which one is legit?)

Mine has a picture of the sun shining through the branches of a tree. So that would be the scene you describe. I have no idea what is legit and not. Amazon does not mail to my country so I had to pay a hefty price getting it mailed here from korean seller.

in reply to Millbrook

Thank you for the description. Mine also does not smell as strongly as it 'should', but then again I cannot smell peanut butter either. I've found their phone number; I may give T.E. Neesby a call (if I can find the courage).

in reply to Millbrook

T.E. Neesby says the tree design is their new label. They are both legit! :)

Hi ! I stopped taking it after a month. I believe it was very constipating. I too have a few unopened containers :). Eventually I''ll resume, but will take much fewer . I had been on 12 a day, following a study where a person who took 12 a day for 3 weeks eliminated /reduced all PD symptoms. The research on butyrate is very positive, so, as I said I will try again.

Neesby Butyrex is available on Shopee S$84 It’s more expensive than on Amazon but then they do not ship here. On shopee it ships from Korea.

I learned that taking a soluble fiber feeds the gut bacteria that produce butyrate and helps heal leaky gut. I'm sorry I don't have the reference but you could research it if interested. Don't know what bacteria are needed though. I take acacia senegal (Heather's Tummy Fiber). It seems to help my colitis.

I find L-Plantarum heals IBS within a week, but you have to not kill them with drugs or Gluten and high lectin foods! Very potent probiotic on an empty stomach! Symptoms need a holistic approach to tissue repair once and when the toxins go. Hope I’ve helped. M
