Certain types of exercise are particularly helpful to build strength, improve balance, and develop better posture. You can also improve your mobility and range of motion, making daily life easier.

Here I go again! For those who hate what I say, stop reading now. For those who genuinely want to reverse their Pd symptoms, there is nothing to beat fast walking. If you are someone who wants to know more then look at my profile!

Doesn't work for everyone, but still reckon if you can manage the equivalent of 12,000 steps a day (of various activities - and it might be you have to run/bike/row) your progression will be much slower.

I have always been at fast walker. AT 80, I do 2.7 mile walk per hour on the treadmill. I try to walk everyday. Is that considered fast walking? Thank you for your reply.

I'd call 2.7 mile walk per hour a brisk pace. Especially at 80 years.

Thank you. I walk 30-35 minutes each day. I don’t do any other exercises but do play ping pong (with my wall) as I read it help with coordination....

We are all different! I cannot judge you, not because I don't want to, but because it is not objectively possible. If you are walking as fast as you possibly can, then you are doing well. May I suggest that you do get more benefit from walking outdoors on uneven surfaces. I am a little older than you and i don't know if you could walk outdoors like that. Whatever you do, don't stop walking!

Thank you for your kind reply. I walk 6 out of 7 days. It has become part of my morning ritual. I agree walking outside is better and will make an effort to do it.

I strongly advise you to ONLY WALK EVERY SECOND DAY! That is if you walk as hard as you can! If you are just strolling then what you do is fine, but if you push yourself to the limit you will pick up injuries and that you don't need.

Hmmm, for me skipping the daily workout is an anathema. But I'll look into making changes.

If you skipping is fairly gentle ten that's OK. But if you go flat-out then don't do it every day!

"If you skipping is fairly gentle ten that's OK. But if you go flat-out then don't do it every day!" Is there a joke in there somewhere? I meant skipping out on the daily workout, not skipping rope. :-)

Thanks for letting me know.

The thought has just gone through my mind that SKIPPING with a rope could well be an alternative for fast walking? it has the possibility of being able to be maintained for that magic one hour, Who wants to try it out?

Makes sense really. I walk at 2.7 and it is not a sweat...but don’t want to overdo it at 80.
