Thanks for the research paper. I've been using Mucuna for symptom control for about 1.5 years. So far I've found it to be effective, with no noticeable side effects.

Hello reedbaot,

how much dose of mucuna do you take, which times of the day and...

which brand?

How well does it help relieve you of tremor (if you have tremor)?

thanks

Right now I'm primarily using Barlowe's 40% capsules, 650mg = 250mg L-Dopa. Sometimes I use the bulk powder, 3/16 tsp = 250mg. I take it 4 times per day, every 6 hours. My main symptom is tremor and it definitely helps with that but as you probably know tremor is the most difficult symptom to manage. I buy directly from BarlowesElixers.com

Good luck and I hope this helps.

I use nutrivita 100% ldopa powder 1/8 teaspoon and it stops the tremor almost completely. Works better at first and second dose third and fourth dose if taken does not work so well. When I take with B1, I get extended relief and more concentrated. Four hour relief instead of three with B1. Constant severe Tremor in my right arm is my most marked symptom but I've been using MP for about a year and B1 for about for months to much success. Hope this helps.

Dear Ernie, do you take anything with your mucuna to make it work better? Are do you just take it straight up in a little water? I take the same mucuna you take and the same amount, but it seems to make my tremors worse. Any ideas?

take green tea extract along with mucuna

It may be too large of a dose for you. Try a smaller dose and see how you feel.

Yes I take it on an empty stomach (don't eat anything for 1 hour after) with B1, powder form, 1/8 teaspoon magnesium, and I take a few herbs with it, you can just choose to take one herb with your mix, it could be Tribulis terestris which I heard is pretty good because it aids with absorption. Plus I don't take the sinemet with it. Hope this helps, keep me posted, glad to be of help. All this is in powder form mixed together in a little water and chased with grape juice.

You'll have to try what iqbaliqbal and Juliegrace suggest. Julie helped me with getting my dosage right with the Mucuna when I started because she gave me the same suggestion that I was doing too much, and green tea aids in absorption but it didn't work for me it gave me horrible stomach pain.

Great research article. Thanks for sharing. I also use MP for my PD.

It will not download for me but according to the picture 250 mg of c/l is equal to 1000 mg of MP? Is that correct? If so I’m way underdosed on the MP

Hi, you seem to be very knowledgeable about Mucuna Pruriens vs. C/L...I am interested in trying/substituting MP for C/L. I currently take 1.5 pills of 25/100 C/L three times/day (so total 450mg/day Levodopa) very successfully, i.e., with good results. If I buy Vitacost MP standardized extract capsules (334 mg bean extract/capsule standardized to 15%, so yields 50mg of Levodopa/capsule), should I take two MP capsules to equate to a 100mg C/L pill... or more/less? Since MP contains no carbidopa to aid in Levodopa delivery to the brain, I'm not sure if I need to take more MP to compensate for inefficiency? Really appreciate your counsel...
