....I've only gone and done it!!! Week 5 run 3 finished,

Started today with a hangover so thought, oh ill do it tomorrow wont make any difference, but as the day progressed I went for it,

I've not really said much this week as just wanted to get my head down and stop thinking too much about it,

I'm not going to lie it was hard, my legs felt like lead, and all the way through I was thinking, 'I'll never do this' and 'I must be nearly done by now' I wanted this run to be somewhere different, something new, I thought it might take my mind off it a little, picked a lovely spot of countryside but I think it was all slightly uphill!!!

Surprisingly my breathing was ok just mind/attitude I've done it so get a grip xxxxx

Just like week 1 though i felt very light headed and dizzy, all a little cloudy took me a while to recover, but I'm sooo pleased with myself, proud is the word, big pat on the back.

Wish I could get a more positive frame of mind and just trust in myself and the program though ??

Well done!! My wife and I are doing week 5, run 2 next so not quite reached the 20min run.

The fact that you've just completed a 20min run must give you a huge positive boost, has it? It is a great achievement! If you can do 20mins you can do 25, no doubt. Then once you can do 25 you can do 30. I think the key is believing you can achieve each step.

Do you have a goal or reward you're working towards when you complete the full programme? My wife and I have a strapline for the programme 'fab at 40' which helps us remain positive, determined and focused. I've also identified a few shirts that I haven't been able to wear for some time that I'd like to be able to get into. Again, just helps me to stay focused and positive.

Finally, focus on thinking about things differently. What is the 'little voice' in your head saying and how can you then think about it differently? eg rather than thinking 'I'm dreading week 6 and the prospect of running 25mins' think 'I've been able to do this each step of the way, I'm 2/3 of the way through the programme already, I've done 20mins so I can do 25!' The more you can do that the more positive you will become.

Well done and keep going!!
