I ran a route on Saturday which was very hilly (especially mile 3 and 4, it just went on and on up and up!)) and was 7.5 miles long in total. I have always thought this route would be beyond me, but I just felt strong enough to give it a go on Saturday morning. I did it! Don't know exact time because my garmin stopped after mile 6 (arrgh) but the mile lap times had been
mile 1:10.23
mile 2 10.05
mile 3 11.54
mile 4 12.32
mile 5 11.17
mile 6 11.38
mile 7 +......unknown
I usually do my mile time around the 10.15 mark so you can tell how much of an uphill course it was!
Well the success of conquering this run means that I have felt brave enough to enter the Tonbridge half marathon!
It takes place in September, giving me 3/4 months of preparation for it.
I can't even begin to tell you how I feel about this. Scared, excited, surprised at myself for being brave enough. I was physically shaking when I did it, and almost felt sick. Crazy I know, oddly it's not the running I'm scared of; it's the taking part.
I know this will be so good for me in so many ways.

Thanks Ali. I'll have to run a few things before to get used to the 'running with other people' thing. And thanks to you it will all start with that parkrun in June!!
That's great, really impressive, particularly as it was up a challenging hilly route! Good luck with the half marathon training, I'm sure you'll be fantastic
I will be doing a park run or two and then there is a 10k locally at the end of June which I will probably enter to get some experience. Oh gosh what HAVE I got myself into!
Really impressed, I'm sure the thought of it will be worse than actually being in it, you'll be fine really, mega boost of self confidence waiting on that finish line
Having a MAD bank holiday Monday. I've just signed up for a local 10k on June 24th!! Thought it might be a good chance to get some race experience in readiness for the half marathon!!
Wow! You are running so fast and so far and uphill too! Congratulations on entering for the half marathon - that's seriously impressive! I was going to enter a 5k Race for Life in a couple of weeks but I've found the last couple of runs tough - and they have been in the morning like the R4L, not the evening when I usually run - so I've lost a bit of confidence. Also I haven't been feeling the buzz from running that I had started to get with the longer runs.
