I've had two retinal tears to my right eye in the space of 10 weeks and have had subsequent laser surgery for both tears. With the first tear, I waited at least 5 weeks, before I went back to running and had experienced my second tear at work and not whilst running. Has anyone had a retinal tear? and if so, how did this impact your running? Were you able to resume running again in the knowledge that running wouldn't cause another retinal tear? Any input would be helpful and much appreciated. Thankyou!

So sorry you’ve been unlucky enough for this to happen twice! It can be hard mentally returning after injury. I worried a lot about it coming back (mine wasn’t an eye problem). What helped was some reassurance from a suitable professional (a wonderful physio) that I would be fine. It is worth a chat with your doctor for guidance about when to resume running. Wishing you all the best for when you’re ready, and hoping there are other suitable things you can do to keep active in the meantime. Walking helped distract me from my not-able-to-run grumpiness while I was recovering. Good luck!
What a nightmare! I haven’t had this myself but my husband has had over 15 eye surgeries and you do feel concerned that any knock or jolt will cause another detachment or tear, If you have followed all the advice from doctors and been given the all clear to resume normal life you should be ok but next check up ask the question.
My husband used to think the pressure of flying caused his problems but was assured that this wasn’t so . Good luck
