Graduated :-)

Last Monday I completed R3 of Week 9 and achieved my unwritten goal of graduation before my 64th birthday with a bit over a week to spare.I'm going to do a few consolidation runs and then try the 3 new ones that have appeared in the app.

Thanks to all on this forum, I've only posted a couple of times but had helpful and encouraging responses each time, I've read (much more than I have written ) the great content and advice which combined with the C25K app has enabled me to become a runner!

To anyone just starting, I'd say read the sticky/advice posts, follow the app coach and you'll get there, it's so worth it.

Many congratulations and well done!

May I suggest taking 2-3 weeks for consolidation runs ... and then consider taking 1 of your weekly runs and extending it gradually (by time) in the exact same way that C25K does with Weeks 7, 8 and 9. Just adding on a little bit extra every week. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how that goes :-)

many congratulations- I was 63 when I graduated and 3 years later and retired I’m still trotting along - still slow and steady and nowhere near doing 5k in 30 mins. Who cares - I’m alive, I can run and I’m much healthier than I was. It also keeps me on a healthy eating plan - the older I get the less weight my old knees can take

I hear you about the knees, I also need to lose a bit, enjoy the running retirement

Well done you! Graduation is great and it sounds like you're going to take it sensibly.

I got there at the end of last month but have to give myself a good talking to at the beginning of each run now that I'm "on my own" or find myself inadvertently pretending to be a teenager and suffering for it the next day!

I'll take that talking to.... I will also need reminding.

Wow, thanks for pointing me at that link, loads of good info and more importantly hard won advise. I do intend to take it steady, I had a 'moment' at week 7 I think it was when I was just too fast and felt terrible for the next 4 days. At the time I was very up about my time (I hadn't learned the lesson at that point), #oldfloss did warn me and was completely correct :-(.

Thanks again

Congratulations! 🎉 Enjoy your consolidation runs, are you treating yourself to any running goodies as a reward?

Thinking about a running jacket, I currently start of cold and end up cooked in a fleece!

Ah it’s so hard deciding what to wear as you know on 2km in you’re so warm.
