What a wet run, but 2nd run of week 4 done

Yesterdays run was interesting to say the least!

When we left home yesterday morning it was still dark and there was very light misty rain. I decided that my T-Shirt and a thin fitted jacket would suffice. The jacket is not waterproof, but ideal for running in that sort of weather. My boy friend just ran in a long sleeved T-Shirt (and shorts!!).

The weather obviously saw us leave and waited until we had just reached the end of the 5 minute walk before increasing the intensity of the rain. It was not too bad but too late to turn back anyway.

Upon seeing that we were not petered by the heavier rain, the weather decided to test our determination. It upped its game and the rain got heavier. Again we carried on but it was getting a bit unpleasant. Slowing down to a walk in that weather seemed to be counterintuitive but we did stick to the plan.

That must have really upset the weather, it then decided to through everything it had at us. The rain came down and hurt. The pavements were flooded and I was getting as much water coming up from the ground as I was from the sky. I could feel the water squeezing out of the top of my trainers with every step.

I feared for my phone as it was in an arm strap and is not waterproof. Every time I heard the instructions from the app I breathed a sigh of relief (although the water was getting in my ears and so it was difficult to hear).

After the last run, our brisk walk was definitely brisk and it took about 10 minutes to get home. I think that was harder than the actual running. We normally take the dogs out for their walk straight after but decided against it. When we opened the back door for them to go out for their business, the took one look at the rain and went back to lie down. Obviously not that desperate!!

Of course, today was dry (a rest day) so my trainers are hanging on the washing line in an effort to dry them for tomorrow.

I am finding the cooler weather much better for running, but that much rain did make it a bit unpleasant. Lets hope it is a bit better tomorrow morning.
