Windy Weather

OK, so I know we live on an Island (UK), but how does everyone get on with running in the wind ?? On the way out it is against you and behind you on the way back, or the other way round. I did 28mins yesterday morning, and my legs and thighs were so aching for the rest of the day. I felt completely shattered. Unless it's just the extra 3mins up from Week 7, to Week 8 ??

morning adnewg73 …running in the wind is much better when it’s pushing you along!! It may be that that’s making your legs ache, after all you have to push against it when it’s a head wind but then again, those extra 3 mins are working you hard so it could be that…whatever it s, you’re doing so well…keep it going!! 💪

Running into the wind can be very hard work - which is why most runners HATE the wind!

You've probably expended more calories and your muscles have had to worker than any previous run, so don't worry about it.

I am a bit weird in that i love running in the wind (and rain) i love the challenge it gives me but also thw wind feels lovwly when you stop running as it cools my sweaty skin 😆

I'm not a big fan of wind, but I do find it quite funny! It often tries to dump me in the river!

Think of it as resistance work!

You’re lucky if the wind is consistent enough to be in your face one way and at your back on the return. Round here, it magically always seems to be coming at you in the most difficult way possible!

It is harder. That’s definitely worth remembering and being nice to yourself when you feel like you’ve worked harder-you have!

Wind is my nemesis!! I absolutely hate it and living on the coast as I do it’s is often unavoidable. It’s what stopped me getting back into my running this summer for sure. I don’t mind rain, but wind is just horrible- unless it’s behind me🤣

Well done on your achievement so far - you’re nearly there!

I don't mind the wind for running (I hate it for cycling). As NRC coach tells me, different conditions bring new challenges. As a lover of NRC, I run to an effort level, not to a speed, so the wind may effect the numbers on my Garmin watch, but it doesn't effect the difficulty of the run. I like the wind as much as I like up hill climbs and different temperatures. Each run is different, and that's a good thing :)
