Back in the groove

Since completing C25K in lockdown ( can’t believe that is three years ago!) I’ve dipped in and out of running. Every time I’ve tried to get back into running regularly something has happened and it’s just never gone to plan. But I cancelled my gym membership earlier this year as a belt tightening strategy and vowed to get back into the groove. The awful ‘summer’ weather didn’t help, I hate running in wind - which given I live on the coast is a bit tricky!- but this summer was particularly awful.

Since I was last on here I lost my lovely old sprocker spaniel and now have a very bouncy working cocker. My lovely old girl was too creaky to run with but I’ve been training my new one to run alongside me ( to be fair she’s not really alongside she’s the pacemaker ahead of me !) and that has really motivated me to get back into regular running.

Anyway to cut a long story short today I completed my first 5K in ages after doing lots of shorter runs and Ebony has officially graduated from C25K! She appreciated the water bowl in the park en route! It was such a lovely early morning I was just inspired!

I hope everyone is OK -I do still get email notifications but I haven’t really been on here - what’s happened to the app??

Bonnie will be looking down and thinking that Ebony has still got some learning to do 😉 we’re always telling Ebs that she has a long way to go yet to live up to Bonnie but she’s getting there. She really likes the waist harness she gets very excited when it comes out. The lead that comes with it has shock absorption so she can’t jolt me too much if she pulls. She’s beginning to clock that this running malarkey isn’t a sprint and also best done in a straight line ( not easy for a spaniel!). The good thing about the power walk before starting to run means she can get all her biz out of the way first.
