What’s after C25k?

Hi there, I graduated a couple of months ago, and have been just repeating the final run 3x a week since, to try and continue to build the habit.

I’d like to push myself a bit further now though, and I’m struggling to find a good app for the next stage. Whether that’s moving to 10k etc.

Are there any recommendations on an app that can progress from C25k app?

I am trying to find something with the audio cues for how long to go etc.

thank you!

I recommend the Nike Run Club application. Really good coaching on the guided runs. If you download it then I strongly recommend doing the initial 4 week starter course. Sure you will find it easy, but it will give you a really good feel for how to use the app, and how to select the guided runs to easily build your own tailored program. In my opinion, it is the best running app out there in terms of coaching. The amazing thing is that it is totally free :)

Thanks Zev - I downloaded this app but I could only see either 5k programmes, or then straight to a half marathon, which is a bit of a jump for me! I was looking for a 10k programme, am I missing something on the app?

Sorry ForeverYoung. I am in France so NRC is in French for me (language fixed by detected location). So I can't tell you what the options are called in English. However, along the top of the screen I have three tabs : "Démarage Rapide" (Quick Start), "Runs guidés" (Guided runs), "Programmes d'entrainement" (Training programs) I'm guessing the translations for English. In "Programmes d'entrainement" I see "Bien débuter", (Begin well), and "Programme d'entrainement marathon" (Marathon training program). I suggested "Bien débuter" (Im guessing it is a bit like 5Km), because it would be an easy way into understanding the coaching and the philosophy, you would then be able to tailor your own program based on that philosophy, because there are huge numbers of guided runs in the second tab "Runs Guidé" to choose from. But you need to know the philosophy in order to know how to choose them. If you don't feel like doing the 4 week program, then maybe just listen to it when you have a free moment. Ideally, when youhave a feel for how building your training works, then each week you will choose 1 speed run, 1 recuperation run, and one long run from the guided run tab. If you don't want to listen to or use the introductory program then I would suggest beggining with the following guided runs "Second Speed Run", "Headspace 35min recuperation run" and "40min long run". I'm sure once you do a guided run then you will get a feel for it and be really keen to try some others. The coaching is really good. There are lots of other NRC users on here who can probably explain it to you far better than I can, but I hope you give it a go, it's really cool.

the 5k plan will also get you able to run 10k, there is a 10k plan but you have to select the guided runs from the document yourself nike.com/pdf/Nike-Run-Club-...

yes, it’s annoying that they never added their Nike 10k plan to the app, although they have it in pdf with references to each run.

To make it easier, I put the whole NRC plan into a Google doc with clickable runs. But just to note, the links go void every 3 month or so, and it takes me then a few weeks to get around to updating all links again. So what I advise now is to use the start of the week to save all the five runs (download and bookmark) for that week, and use the saved runs feature to get access to these. You will then also see a very satisfying tick mark after completing each.

I use Nike run club, each run is coached and there are so many. Mix up your runs for a while before going for 10k. BTW I did 10k by accident when I was 73.😃

Hi I also like NRC, particularly Coach Bennett. But I'm starting on Juju's magic plan this week, see link
