Nothing outdoors due to smoke

Well air quality is an 11. On the scale 11 is the worst. So much smoke from forest fires that you wake up rubbing your eyes, with a sore throat & coughing. Being outdoors is unhealthy right now. The smoke makes you tired & it’s hard to escape, even when you are indoors. Fingers crossed for RAIN! The air isn’t quite bad enough to miss snow & winter, yet. Close but not yet.

Wish I could send some rain ☔ for you Uris from where I live in Scotland UK, NOT the rain thst Italy is having with severe flooding and some deaths as well.I have just woke up this Sunday morning to find there was a period of light rain lasting about 6 hours during the night, that's the kind of rain you need to clear up all that smoke you are having where you live, certainly not good conditions to run or even walk, I just hope that you get rain soon to clear away all that smoke and end the misary of those forest fires.

Thanks. Seeing what is happening in Italy due to the rainfall is almost impossible to believe. Definitely a horrible situation there. A light rainfall overnight sounds lovely. Enjoy the day & be active!

This Sunday morning I went a short 5K bike ride and in the afternoon another short 1K walk with Holly the dog, Holly is my neighbours dog.

Oh, no! I am so sorry to read this,  Uris ! Wishing you rain very soon 🌧

If you have any FFP2 (or N95) masks from Covid left, they also help against the smoke IF you need to venture out or even indoors if you need a breathing break... Just before I moved from San Francisco back to Germany, I bought some to protect my lungs as there were fires North of SF with smoke filling the whole Bay Area.... That was the first time I scrambled to get masks... Sigh.

Definitely masks do help if you have to go outside. But it’s amazing how draining smoke makes you feel. I remember those fires in California. Definitely becoming more frequent. I was on a good streak of walking daily and this setback has been disappointing.

Ughh. It's so early this year isn't it? My father is in the Okanagan where they seemed to go straight from winter to summer while I was there just a few weeks ago. He told me the smoke had already reached them since I left. I do hope the weather turns for a bit or this could be a dreadful year 😢

I do complain because the smoke is bad. But I really can’t complain. I’m having a hard time dealing with the smoke but that’s all! Being helpful & kind & understanding should be easy when all I have to deal with is smoke. The Okanagan is fantastic! I haven’t been there in a long time. Bucket list; cycling Kettle Valley, going to an orchard, fresh cherries & of course lots of swimming!

My parents had to evacuate a couple of years ago. One of the fires passed the other side of their road. That's the closest they have come. But the constant poor air quality is really tough isn't it.

Cycling the KVR trail is something we often do - I love it! And running alongside the lake is heaven 😊

I had wanted to cycle the KVR (on an E-bike) but then the fires came through but then the trestles were rebuilt. KVR has always seemed so fantastic. Glad you love it. I can visualize you running by a lake. So many nice (but cold) lakes there. It’s impossible to complain when people have been evacuated or had losses but yes the smoke is really hard. I was starting to crack today but they have predicted rain sometime on Monday🤞. I currently can only walk 30 minutes (of an hour long “walk” due to loads of stops/breaks). I still need to lose 90 pounds. I have lung issues and the smoke sucked royally & my health has declined. No energy, sore throat, coughing as well as no walking indoors or outdoors. But it’s “just” smoke!

Fingers firmly crossed for that rain 🤞

Thanks. But I am definitely not the only one having issues.
