Week 8 started today. Its been a difficult few weeks with illness and some missed runs but thought I'd stick to the plan and try week 8 rather than repeat week 7. The mental block is much worse than the physical one for me - the 28 minutes was actually fine, I think I could have definitely done 30. I'm a far way off 5k in 30 mins though....

Yes i would agree its the mental block, i used to say to myself in the early weeks that i will just go out there and aim for XX minutes and see how i go, but that is was in my head as i could push myself beyond the XX minutes i had in my head, especially when it comes to the longer runs, i started changing my mindset to thinking "get to half way and then count down from there", that made it a lot easier then i would say to myself "i only have XX minutes to go" and that would give me the push i needed
I'm almost at the end of W9, and I'm only doing 3.4K, and everyone is telling me not to worry about distance. So don't you either! I do agree though, the mental block is the hard bit, and I have been dreading the mornings when I have to run. Somehow though this week, the mental block has gone for me, I'm just going out there and doing what I can. So maybe it will be the same for you - hope so anyway! Hope the illness has gone now and you're back to full health.
