Rubbish weather ...

As my dear old dad used to say, "It serves you right for living in North Wales." I don't mind the grey, miserable, rainy weather we often get, EXCEPT for when I want to get out for a run.

However, I have been out 3 times since last Saturday - I've managed to (mostly) find the bright spots and, thanks to advice on here, start to enjoy this running lark again. Last Saturday I ran for 10 minutes, then had to stop because my legs felt so stiff. I walked a bit, ran a bit more, then went off my usual path and through the woods, where I had to go slower even than usual, for fear of tripping on the uneven ground. The concentration it took to look at my surroundings so I didn't fall over meant that I finished my run without really even noticing the time, and ran for a total of about 30 minutes, albeit in fits and starts.

I've done two more runs this week. Slowly, with no Strava, no Fitbit, no taking any notice of distance or pace - just a vague eye on the time (and that mostly so I didn't end up too far from home come dusk). I have SO enjoyed these last 2 runs! Wednesday's was bizarrely pleasurable - bizarre because the first 10 minutes (usually the worst) felt effortless. Me! Comfortable running! The next 10 were uncomfortable and the final 10 were OK, although slowing down because I was tired.

I'm planning to get out again today, just hoping for the fog and drizzle to lift ... which might be optimistic ๐Ÿคฃ

Sounds fab, well done getting 3 runs in ๐Ÿ‘...I'm also building back up & have done a couple of short 15 minute runs. Still enjoy them as it's lovely to be getting back out there, regardless of time/distance.

I'm in North Wales too but luckily though I sometimes don't fancy going out in the rain, I really enjoy it once I'm out there ๐Ÿ˜€

I actually don't mind once I'm out in it either, but the motivation to get out there is more difficult. At least it's not blowing a gale today!

Great week of running for you-youโ€™re doing brilliantly! The weather is a challenge at the moment. Mine started in drizzle and ended up in torrential rain earlier this week. Hopefully you can find a gap!

Fantastic! Wales is so beautiful. I have spent a few holidays there when my children were little and it was so lovely around Easter time when it was not too busy and the lambs had been born. I remember the weather would literally close in and the clouds descend from the mountains. I am hooked into technology because I have to be, as I am following the couch to 5, but once I get past week 9, after that I will see how it goes and may well take a leaf out of your book. Thanks for sharing!

Hi NN. Here in Cornwall we have โ€œspecial โ€œ weather too. I must admit looking through the local weather forecast to choose the mornings when Iโ€™ll get least wet.

Otherwise, just learn to enjoy soaking kit and carefully drying shoes.
