Week 6 done!

Well thats week six out of the way. A few more rest days than usual but had things to do.

For W6 R3, I ran just a few meters short of 4km in the 25 minutes. So if I want to do 5kms in 30 minutes, I will need to speed up a little, but that comes later. I'm amazed that I've run that far to be honest.

I felt good, though the last 3 or 4 mins were getting hard for me

Onwards and upwards to the end of the course.

Its great reading some of the inspirational stories here, that gives me a little extra motive to get to the end.

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 6, you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER, don't worry about speed at the moment, onwards and upwards to week 7 which are all 3 /25 minute runs, not long now until you graduate.

Hi  BalhamSW12 , congratulations on your progress!

If you're doing almost 4k in 25 minutes' running, i.e. without counting the distance covered during your warm-up or cooldown walks, then you're already going at a pretty speedy pace.

Despite the programme name there's no requirement to complete 5k in 30 minutes, or even at all! So if you're finding the last few minutes of your run hard, I'd suggest you slow down a bit. You need to be running at a pace at which you can comfortably hold a conversation.

Happy running!

Well done you... keep it slow and steady as you head towards that podium...as Cmoi says, no need to run and feel that is is a tad hard... plenty of time to work on that later:)

I regularly took more than 1 rest day during the programme and I'm not sure if you've read it here already, but very few graduates actually run 5km in 30 minutes, myself included. The title of the programme is catchy but misleading - all you need to do to graduate is run for 30 minutes, it doesn't matter what distance you cover. So I hope that helps take the pressure off - it sounds like you're doing great so far! Working towards 5k is something you can look forward to after graduation 🙂
