Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well & settling in to 2023 now that January is over?

i absolutely love the time of year that we’re coming into…oh my, I stepped out of my back door the other day to be greeted by the beautiful snowdrops that appear in the same place every year..my heart skipped with joy…don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t like winter but spring, when everything is beginning to come alive again and the flowers are looking for the sun, I just love it….and then Summer when everything is so colourful, the flowers looks so joyous & the trees are at their most majestic…and then Autumn, well…what can I say?? Beautiful colours when the trees outshine the flowers with their ever changing colours that shine in the low sun..we are so lucky to be part of all that nature offers aren’t we??

Some of you may know that I am revisiting c25k and I’ve just finished week 3….but I’ve been struck down with lurgy over the weekend so week 4 is waiting out side somewhere for me…

Revisiting c25k has made such a difference to me…and has reminded me of the runner that I am…and it’s taken me right back to when I downloaded the app, put my headphones in, put my new balance trainers on and headed out of the door…after week 1 I felt like a runner, my life had changed, I was obsessed with running clobber & I knew I was going to do something amazing…that will be 6 years ago this year…whoosh..

I’ve learnt so much about running since then…it’s ok to walk a bit….it’s ok when a gazelle springs passed…it’s ok to set a distance or time & not quite make it…it’s ok to have an ‘i can’t be bothered’ day…all those things worried me so much, I was always comparing myself to other runners…running apps didn’t help, they just made me look at everyone else’s stats…until I learnt to STOP THAT!!!

After I finished week 3 last week, I felt great…the runs felt easy, although my asthmatic chest might say otherwise (!)…I’m out there, doing my thing, with a smile on my face..so if you’re wondering whether to repeat c25k, maybe you’re at a loose end with your running, feeling a bit despondent & feel like you’re not getting anywhere..please, go back to basics…go back to week 1..and I’m sure you will get that ‘runner’ feeling back in your heart ❤️

MC xx

Good to hear from you Mummycav, that's a very interesting post from you, so you are doing C25K again, well done on rerunning and completing week 3 last week ✅👍, I am happy that you felt great.

Yesterday morning I ran a short 3K, a few weeks ago when I didn't go to parkrun I reran run 3 of week 5, the following week, run 3 of week 6, I love that 25 minute run because at the end Laura tells you that "you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER", this morning I went a 9K WALK and saw the first snow drops of spring although I don't consider spring until the 1st March.

thanks AlMorr …sometimes it’s good to re-trace our steps to remind us where we’ve come from…I would often do what you have done and do the odd run from the programme, I just seem to need structure sometimes..we’ll done on that VERY long walk!!

C25k is such a brilliant programme…whether you’re a complete newbie, or coming back after a break…for whatever reason.

It’s great that you’re out there and enjoying it all over again!

👏🏼💐🏃🏻‍♀️

Fabulous post MC I am redoing C25k as I was injured for a while and what you say is absolutely right. I’m really enjoying it second time round as I know I can run. I’m on W5 and while I know I’m not as quick as I was I know I will be able to enjoy W5 r 3 at the end of the week. Happy running everyone 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

thanks Scruff55 … doing the programme again after injury is a great idea…then you’re easing yourself back into it without over doing it…you will smash that run…it’s one of the runs that makes you realise how far you’ve come & that the programme really does work x

Great article, well written and very inspirational to so many . Great that Spring is just around the corner although there is something relaxing about a still winter’s night when your alone with thoughts and before you know it it’s all over for another evening. Upwards and Onwards !!!!!

you’re right Navy3 …I love a cold, chilly run, especially in the morning when everyone’s still asleep 😴

Lovely post…..after 9 months of nightlong injury I’m back on the C25k journey again. I’ve done it a few times now and it’s never failed to bring joy back to my running. I was a bit apprehensive to start week 5 yesterday but was so happy at the end of run 1 and I really started to believe the comeback is really on! This time of year is a joy for me as I get to see sunrises after a month of dark mornings which makes everything seem worthwhile!!

Good luck with the rest of week 5…not many more weeks now 💪
