2nd February, 2012, canalside, normal clothing, usual backpack, walking boots, Welsh Springer Spaniel... and off we go on the first Week 1 session of the Couch to 5K podcasts.

2nd February 2023, canalside, ninja (long sleeved black cotton t shirt and leggings from Sainsbury's), minimalist trail running shoes, no Welsh Springer Spaniel... and I listened to bits of the Week 1 session. I know having your own choice of playlist (as on the app) is popular but you don't, I reckon, get that powerful hit of nostalgia... [I did not however actually run it as intervals as, although I have never stopped running and have redone the programme, I still find Week 1 tough...]

Congratulations 👍😊

Your week 1 run 1, sounds exactly the same as mine all those years ago (not quite as long as you!) …..spaniel, walking boots, winter coat 😂. I soon ditched those, too 🥵 !

Happy runniversary GoogleMe, walking boots are not all that good for running but as it was your very first day they would do for that very first run, it is strange that despite all your runs you still find week 1 of C25K tough, nevertheless a big congratulations

They were better than the professionally fitted Salomons a year or two later, my goodness those were dire - and in fact I still run in walking boots occasionally (admittedly Vivobarefoot rather than stiffer soled and heavier types) I first bought running shoes somewhere round week 5 (they came after the sports bras and indeed after the firm control knickers) I rocked up here on the forum about week 4.

The only time I ran in walking boots was before I began C25K, I have always gone long walks, especially during the winter on a Sunday morning, just before I began C25K when out walking I had a few 2 minutes test runs, running in those walking boots, but once I started C25K I ran in trainers before buying proper running shoes after I graduated and before I started parkruns.

Happy 11th Runiversary GM 🏃‍♀️🎉

I'm sure Laura would be delighted to know your now Ninja self took her for a run to celebrate it. I hope you really enjoyed that nostagic outing.

I am listening to Laura on the app as I build up again, not the podcasts as I feel my own music eases me along a tad.

🌿xxx

Congratulations and happy runniversary GM!

I still think that very first run is the hardest in the whole programme 🥵 but also very satisfying when it’s over 🙂

Here’s to the next eleven years of joyous running for you and to creating lots of happy memories.

I forgot to mention that I managed the first four runs. I was going to say 'only' but it was 3 and a half more than I thought I was going to manage!
