I was on week 8 and caught that nasty flu virus, it took 2 months to feel better but I’ve had to start from scratch again. So disheartening but just completed week 1 again, have to admit though it was hard work !!

Welcome back.... I have quite literally just replied to a returning friend here.. .

So many of us after illness or injury have repeated all or parts of C25K. Depending on the reason for a spell away from running, will impact how you return.

I myself began last week with my first run since the 30th November.

The advice here... slow and steady. Really slow and really steady... think snail on a go slow :)

This is a terrific programme... so use it to build back gently and enjoyably... if you are struggling even at this early stage, then quite simply ease back.

Loads of us in a similar position to you... and if you pop into Catch Up Corner you can sit and have a chat with us !

Recovery after a nasty virus is hard. I’m not surprised at all that it’s been demoralising. It’s miserable to have made such great progress and then be stuck on the couch. It’s great that you’re back again.

Take it steadily and carefully. I’ve had post viral fatigue before and yo yoing can be a real issue. It’s hard not to do too much on days when you feel good and then feel exhausted the next day (or even more). Try and finish feeling like you can do more, even if that means going super slowly. Your stamina will come back with time. I found it helpful to think of the comeback as a new thing and not compare to how I was running before. It’s easier to celebrate the massive positives of being out again if you’re not thinking that three months ago you were going further. Patience is difficult but you’ll get there.

Really good luck to you-we’re all rooting for you! ❤️

Hello - I sympathise about how frustrating it is.... I got to week 7 at the beginning of November and then everything went pear shaped and I didn't do any running and had to start all over again in January. I have just passed where I got to before (onto w8r1) and it does feel good!!! I don't feel like I am running as well as I did before Christmas, but it is probably just my imagination, because I feel like it ought to be easier as I've already done it all not so long ago 😂 I am just heading for the finishing line, because I know that by building up my stamina with the determination to do the whole thing all over again, I am sure to be able to keep it going after I have graduated.

well done and thanks for the sympathy, I am running really well at the moment and feel good. I hope you get to the end soon and continue to enjoy your running.

Well done Scampi61 on getting back out there. There's some horrible bugs out there at the moment. All the best for finishing this time without illness 😉

So good you didn’t let it put a stop to your running career . What a shame you got thrown off course but you’ll enjoy the return to fitness.

The prevalence of bugs, covid and other has been a curse.

Hi. Something hit me in October. I'm still not back to where I was! (about 1min\Km slower and 4K not 5), Good to be running again, though

Good just to be out.
