Do I need to start again if my run is interrupted?

I had completed my warm up and 5 minute walk and had just started to run when I met a friend I hadn’t seen for some time so I stopped to speak to him for about 15 minutes. I was unsure as to whether I needed to repeat the 5 minute warm up walk or just carry on. I decided to walk for 2 minutes after leaving my friend and then resumed my run, but I found it harder than usual.

Any advice would be very welcome!

I would have just restarted but a bit slower but if warming up again and walking for a bit works best for you, do that. I’m not sure there’s a necessarily definitive answer and how cold it is at the moment could certainly have made a difference! Trial and error I think. There’s never anything wrong with taking more time to warm up.

I'd say after 15 minutes you've cooled down enough that you need to warm up again with a walk.
