Hello so I've just started back on the programme after a 5 year gap since I graduated. In that time I kept up some running until 3 years ago since when I've done some Pilates, some swimming and then nothing from June 2021 until September 2022 when I went back to Pilates. It felt right to get back to the programme after a very challenging year.
This mornings run was amazing!! I could easily skip forwards I think....any tips on whether/how I should do this?
Thanks 😊

Welcome back! It’s lovely to have you here and wishing you lots of luck with the programme. As you said, you’ve been here before which will give you skills and expertise that you didn’t have the first time, especially with pacing and not going too fast. It’s been a long break though, and you won’t necessarily have the right sort of strength in your muscles, ligaments and tendons. That will come back, but you’re much better starting from the beginning than going a bit far, a bit quickly and putting yourself on the injury couch. It’s probably worth having another look at the programme guide too. It’s had a little refresh recently too.
I can totally understand the temptation but try really hard to resist. Perhaps think about adding some strength and flex type training to keep you from skipping ahead. You need recovery time too!
