Brief history: Started Couch 2 5K spontspontaneously one February just before my 50th (in April 2019) - my son literally couldn't believe it, and when I succeeded 9 weeks later and carried on running both son and husband were impressed... as was I : )
Then the weather turned bad, then we had the Pandemic... (which I have, as yet, not managed to catch).
Neither were good excuses not to run, but my running got less frequent and I got fatter in lock down and as my weight shot up, my joints got bad.
Long story short - found out later I had a thyroid problem (plus menopause... bla bla bla).
So, 3.5 years on (at about the time of year the weather gets worse) I have my hormonees all balanced... lost a few pounds (although not enough). Son, now 18, is on a health crusade and has laid down the gauntlet: He wants to get down to 80kg before me!
Hmmm... just to give him some Kudos - he's already lost 28kg (thats nearly 4.5 Stone) - he's now only about 4 or 5kg heavier than me (and a LOT taller)... so I better start taking life/health/diet and RUNNING more seriously.
Today I did W2 R2 - plus a bit of extra walking at the end to make up 4km in total. Tomorrow I will walk only.
In September I gave myself a target of walking 100km - starting with 2 per day week one ... working up to 5km per day by week 4. (This build up was necessary to achilles issues and generally lack of fitness). I did it - with only 2 rest days .... but it was exhausting and I need to ease up in October. But - I definately felt some health benefits, and my legs look better and I lost a tiny bit of weight...
But I remember the joy of doing a days work and THEN going for a RUN.... because it was fun and made me feel better. THAT is what I want to get back to. Anything else is a bonus.
I'll keep you posted.
