Winging it right now....

Haven't been able to keep running :( after my enthusiastic start.

One thing and another I ended up with some major fatigue issues. I started C25K whilst I was on a week off - once I got back to work my energy levels have plummeted leaving not much left at all for decent exercise.

I know my body and know what happens if I push it past its 'cut off point' so have taken it a bit easier, allowing my body (and my grouchy, lazy thyroid) time to recover....I have kept up with some walking about, active at work, gentle weight lifting, stretches and using my exercise bike - just to keep me moving to some degree.

I think, realistically, I actually need to try and lose a bit more weight before subjecting my Hypermobile and damaged leg joints to running. I'm quite a lot to carry around right now....

That said, I am 7lbs down in 4wks through sensible eating and maintaining some activity so fingers crossed I can get back to my running! I'm so keen to keep at it but have to listen to what my body says first I guess....

I will get back to it 💪

I am inspired by you all and I'm determined...🌟

Just sending you lots of good wishes. Fatigue can be so demoralising and you’re absolutely doing the right thing by listening to your body. Knowing the difference between “I tired but a run will perk me up” and “My body needs rest” is so important. Look after yourself.

Those runs will wait for you to be ready for them. ❤️

Thank you 🙏🙂 Fatigue is certainly a different kind of tired - something that a nap or a night's sleep doesn't always fix, especially when it's hormonally triggered rather than just over exertion at work.

I'm getting there and know I'll be trying again to pick back up properly with C25K soon, rather than just the weights and static cycling...

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

This FAQ post expands on the theme. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Rest well, prepare well and don't push too hard.......it can be counterproductive.

Keep running keep smiling.

Thank you so much for the link...all helpful information to get me back on track is most gratefully received 🙏🙂

I will be mindful when properly trying again to not over do it straightaway..

It may be that there are some choices to be made so that getting back into running isn't adding to your overall level of activity - especially in the beginning. (I certainly have to make these choices. Many people find that exercise generates overall energy but some of us are not so blessed)

Also worth giving serious consideration to what your options might be in terms of running surface if the high impact is an issue - trying to run mostly on more forgiving surfaces than roads and pavements (the season will help too as there won't be so many baked hard paths)

Thank you 🙂 I had started out on the road - but did enjoy cross country when much younger, and I was hoping to eventually try and get back to that somewhere along the line...

It's effectively still quite early days for me on my C25K journey so I've not taken too large a step back, and can pick up again pretty easily, once my body gives me the green light.

Certainly getting there so fingers crossed the trainers will be back in action soon 🤞
