Hi All, I graduated 10 years ago, but things have fallen by the wayside over the last few years for one reason or another. One of the big ones being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis 7 years ago, which has somewhat curtailed any thoughts of running - especially in the early morning, which was/is my preferred time as it fits in with life. Anyway, I've been feeling a bit better recently, so have started again. My plan is to graduate again by my 64th birthday at the beginning of November. Just completed run 1 of week 5. So far so good. No 'urgent dashes' needed. If I remember rightly from 10 years ago, it is about this time in the programme that I start to swear at Laura a bit - so apologies Laura in advance 😂. Anyway, here's hoping for another smooth 5 weeks to complete. Nearly half way there.....

Welcome back to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5.... and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Congratulations on making it to week five without any problems Nick! Sounds like you've overcome a few hurdles to get where you are. Keep at it, you're doing great!

Welcome back!

So glad you are feeling much better after your real setback! Read the link given by IannodaTruffe , just tor refresh your memory and to keep you safe and well whilst moving on!

I remember grumbling at Laura, especially when she says, "...finish in style"! I used to shout, that I just want to finish!

Take it gently and enjoy this great programme, all over again!

Good to see a fellow IBD sufferer on the group I gave up karate years ago because of it, and pilled weight on with months of pred this is my bid to get things under control

Good to know I’m not alone too. IBD really can be quite restrictive with life. Attempted to restart a few times, but the urge to go always had me scurrying back home soon after getting going. Hopefully, this time with more careful planning, it’ll be more successful. Good luck with your endevours. Hope you make it through. What week are you on?
