Have been away for nearly three weeks after a family bereavement. I thought I would have to go back to week 6 and just give it a go but started the final run of week7. I was amazed that I finished the run and the distance covered was 3.2 Km which is about what I was doing before!!

Has anyone else found that a break does not always put you back? I am happy that I am just 2 weeks away from completing this challenge. It has been the best thing I have done. After all the sadness it was a great feeling of release when I started running. If we could bottle this feeling it would be the best medicine 👍

So sorry about your recent family bereavement Swimming24, I hope you found that run a great feeling of release when you started running.

If you are off running for more than two weeks then it's sometimes a good idea to repeat a run depending on how many weeks you have done C25K, a short break doesn't affect running very much, well done on your final run of week 7 and the distance of 3.2Km, IF you had run 5K your time would have been around 35 minutes, but don't do that yet, onwards and upwards to week 8, not long now until you graduate.

Thank you AlMorr for your lovely nesssge. The run was very a release and so felt like a weight had lifted, it was a good feeling. I will take onboard your advice and keep it ready. I will be over the moon if I could trot out 5k in 35mins. That is something to aim for thank you 🏃🏼‍♂️

Well done on your progress.

You are unlikely to be aware of significant loss of condition in the first two weeks of non running, after which further loss is gradual, as stated in the guide to the plan.

I set one of my 5k PBs after a two week break, so being refreshed is also very important to good performance. I probably had a couple of years of regular (3 x per week) by that stage, so my general condition was fairly good.

Running is a brilliant means of finding space for mind and emotions, so I am sure will be cathartic in your circumstances.

Thank you IannodaTruffe that is encouraging. I don’t think so am going to teach any PBs but just glad that I can still manage the time and like you say keep running keep smiling😊

I'm very sorry to hear about your bereavement Swimming24 but am happy to hear you were able to pick up your running again. I'm sure it'll be very helpful. I found running helped me quietly work through all sorts of emotions after nursing and losing my Dad last year. Like you say, it really is the best medicine, especially if you're able to get out and enjoy the fresh air - it really is a tonic.
