repeating a whole week??

got to week 4 feeling great but not once have I managed to complete the run without having to add an extra 30 sec walk at least once to catch my breath (paused the time on the app). Did anyone else experience this with a specific week? Feeling a bit disheartened that I’m not feeling I’ve improved this week 😕 changed up my route so maybe I should go back to my original one??

Week 4 is a big increase, take it slower, it might feel like you are slow anyway but you can gently run on the spot so practise small steps and don’t get puffed out and you will keep going for the time. Speed will come later much later, I can run almost 2 hours really slow I might look a bit silly but on long runs I don’t get out of breath at all in fact I’m a bit lazy but keep plodding along. Have fun and let us know if slowing down helps

Thanks for this tip! I’ll try slowing my pace on Fridays run and see how I get on!

I’ve found lately that I can run quite fast but only for a few minutes. Have fun Friday

Well done for rewching week 4! That’s getting towards being half way through the program 😊. I would slow down. Go really, really slowly, then slower still. It makes such a difference and helped me no end. Good luck! 😊

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

Counterintuitively, it is an easy conversational pace running that builds your stamina and endurance, not fast running.

SLOW DOWN !!!

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Just take the advice... slow and steady. Comfy running makes for steady progress.. Well done on your running so far, just be kind to yourself.x

As everyone else has said, definitely slow down! If changing your route has added inclines and/or different terrain that might be playing a part, but it's likely that trying to run rather than jog is the key issue.

if you haven't completed any of the week's runs as per the programme, then yes, it would be a good idea to repeat the week. Each week prepares you for the next, so you really need to have that foundation in place before moving on. The good thing is that once you've succesfully completed a week, you are definitely ready for the next one!
