Any tips for w5r3
W5R3? Take it at a nice comfortable pace Crow277 , and if necessary break it down mentally into manageable chunks. Most of all, though, believe you can do it.
Do complete W5R1 and W5R2 first though! 😉
Editing to add: just seen your previous post. Yes, hydration is crucial, don't skimp on it!
Don’t build it up to be a massive thing. It’s the next step in your training. You’ll have done all the runs leading up to it and you’re ready.
I find it helpful to know about the “toxic ten”. The first ten minutes of any run are often tougher than the rest as your body warms up and adjusts to the sustained exercise. That means if you’re finding it hard at the start, it doesn’t mean it will be hard all the way through. It’s super important to run smartly and keep it slow and almost effortless, especially at the start.

Relax and enjoy it.
My tip, is mind over matter. You can do it, can’t remember what the time is but it’s only say 30 mins out your day. I spur myself in by thinking.. one day I may not be able to run, people thinking I might fail, it’s only 30 mins, it’s also proved it works so you will do it x go for it x great feeling when you get to the park me! DO IT DO IT DO IT
I had difficulties on it. Took rest for couple of days, did W5R2 few rounds more(6 times more), then took lot of water, took really long breaths during the run, and most importantly reduced the speed. I thought once i am comfortable, i can increase the speed.. could complete it comfortably. (now completed W8R1 with out any difficulties)
I think most people see this run and become fearful of it (me included - I called it the dreaded week 5 run 3 one). Oh wow, how wrong I was, it was my favourite run and most memorable as I actually felt like I was becoming ‘a runner’ to run that length of time with no intervals was just the best feeling ever. Follow the programme and you will be able to do this, keep a positive mindset before you start it ‘I will complete this run’! Good luck and enjoy week 5!
